Quick and Easy Camping Meal Ideas

Camping is a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and cook delicious meals over an open flame or a portable camp stove. Here are some camping recipes that are easy to prepare and will satisfy your hunger while you’re out in the wilderness:

Breakfast

Campfire Breakfast Burritos:

  • Ingredients: Tortillas, eggs, diced bell peppers, onions, shredded cheese, precooked bacon or sausage.
  • Directions: Scramble the eggs with the veggies and cook over the campfire. Fill tortillas with the cooked mixture, cheese, and bacon or sausage.

Pancakes on a Stick:

  • Ingredients: Pancake mix (pre-mixed at home), water, sausages.
  • Directions: Skewer sausages onto sticks and cook them over the campfire. Meanwhile, mix pancake batter and pour it into a squeeze bottle. Squeeze the batter onto the sausage sticks to create pancake dogs.

Lunch

Campfire Quesadillas

  • Ingredients: Tortillas, shredded cheese, cooked chicken or canned chilli.
  • Directions: Place a tortilla on a grate or pan over the campfire. Add cheese and your choice of chicken or chilli. Top with another tortilla and cook until the cheese is melted and the tortillas are crisp.

Trail Mix Wraps

  • Ingredients: Tortillas, hummus or cream cheese, assorted trail mix ingredients (nuts, dried fruits, seeds).
  • Directions: Spread a layer of hummus or cream cheese on a tortilla and sprinkle with trail mix ingredients. Roll it up and enjoy.

Dinner

Campfire Foil Packets

  • Ingredients: Ground beef or turkey, diced potatoes, carrots, onions, seasonings, aluminium foil.
  • Directions: Create individual foil packets with meat and veggies. Season to taste and cook them on the campfire grate until everything is cooked through.

Grilled Skewers

  • Ingredients: Cubed chicken, bell peppers, onions, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, marinade of your choice.
  • Directions: Thread the ingredients onto skewers, marinate them in your favourite sauce, and grill over the campfire until the chicken is cooked and the veggies are tender.

Dessert

Campfire S’mores

  • Ingredients: Graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate bars.
  • Directions: Roast marshmallows over the campfire until golden brown, then sandwich them with a piece of chocolate between graham crackers.

Banana Boats

  • Ingredients: Bananas, mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, aluminium foil.
  • Directions: Cut a banana lengthwise, stuff it with marshmallows and chocolate chips, wrap it in foil, and heat it on the campfire until everything is gooey.

Snacks

Homemade Granola Bars:

  • Ingredients: Rolled oats, honey, nut butter, dried fruits, nuts, and seeds.
  • Directions: Mix ingredients, press into a pan, let it cool, and cut into bars.

Roasted Nuts:

  • Ingredients: Mixed nuts, a touch of oil, your choice of seasonings.
  • Directions: Toss the nuts with oil and seasonings, then roast them in a pan or foil over the campfire until they’re toasted.
